"We have recently upgraded our old printer with PosterJet. This allowed us to multiply our output considerably, and we finally had color control with ICC profiles. It really cannot be any more efficient."

Questions about the Canon iPF-series printers?
The most important informations about the new printers of the iPF-series are combined in
this pdf document.
Please note that the PosterJet PlugIn for the iPF-9000 has been updated and the media profiles for this printer will only work with the latest printer PlugIn. To download it, please go to the menu tools -> media update inside of PosterJet. Select an update service on top of the window and after this select the tab printer. The list will be filled with the latest printer PlugIns.
The new Canon iPF-500, iPF-600 und iPF-5000 provides you with 3 different ways of loading media. If you have selected a profile in the media settings tab for more than one of the media sources, every new job will be set up for the profile selected in the top loaded media source. If you want to change the media a job is set up for, you can do this in the "Job-Submission-Window" -> tab printer -> media. All current loaded media appear with a star behind its name. A check in which media source the selected profile is loaded can be done in the "Job-Submission-Window" -> tab layout -> media source. If you want to work with the same media loaded in the same tray every time, this can be done easily by:
- 1st Only selecting a media in the media settings for the media source you want to work with.
- 2nd Menu file -> Preferences -> tab General -> setting the Job Default to "Last Job"
- 3rd In the menu Tools -> Template Manager -> creating a template and selecting this as "job Default" in the menu File -> preferences -> tab General -> Job Default
Attention: Not all media types support the printing to a media loaded in the cassette tray. If you want to create your own PosterJet media profile that will access sheets out of the cassette tray, you have to select one of the following printer internal profiles in the PosterJet Media-Manager during the profile creation: "Photo Paper Plus", "PhotoPlusSemiGl", "Plain Paper" or "Premium Matte P". Please have a look into the printers manual for more information. All these tips are combined in a special pdf file you can download here:(ISO format / US letter format).
USB device driver for the HP Designjet 9000s?
The HP Designjet 9000s needs an USB device driver for a proper connection between PC and printer. Before you connect the HP Designjet 9000s to your PC, please download the USB device driver here and unzip the compressed file into a temporary folder. When connecting the HP Designjet 9000s to your PC, Windows will recognize the printer as a new device. In the following dialog you can now choose the INF-file from your temporary folder. This file includes all the needed information for installing the USB device driver. After completing the installation dialog, the USB device driver for the HP Designjet 9000s is now available.
Please note that this is only the UBS device driver of the HP Designjet 9000s needed by Windows. For using this printer with PosterJet, you need to install the HP Designjet 9000s Plug-In.

What means the error message "No media loaded"?
This message appears if no media is loaded on the tab "Media settings" of the lower queue.
Please check, if
- you may choose media in the media settings (the media is installed). If no media is installed you must install media for your printer. To do this use the "Media update" from the "Tools" menu.
- you have choosen a media from the list of the media settings tab and have loaded this media by clicking on the "Submit" button.
Why does the search function from the program preferences not find my printer?
The search function of the PosterJet program preferences is not available if your firewall avoids access to this functionality. Please make sure, that your firewall is configured properly. Otherwise you must manually enter the connection parameters for your printer in the PosterJet preferences.
What kind of media and ink should I use with my printer?
The PosterJet Media department is testing different media and ink supplies every day. The best results are achieved by using the genuine media and ink supplies from HP or Canon. Only with this combination you can be sure, that PosterJet - by using the carefully tested and certified media profiles - is constantly printing the desired colors.
Can PosterJet control two printers simultaneously and from one computer only (Mac or PC)?
Each PosterJet server can control only one printer. To simultaneously control two printers, you need two separate PosterJet licenses or the PosterJet 7 Corporate Business Edition (this includes two PosterJet 7 servers). These two PosterJet Servers must be installed on two seperate PCs, but can be controlled form one PC by changing the connection of the PosterJet Client from one server to the other one.
Can I use existing media profiles for PosterJet V7?
No. Completely new profiles are available for all supported media. Regularly updated and new media profiles are here available for download free of charge
Why is too much ink applied when I use a self created Canon media profile for PosterJet 7.0.x with version 7.1 or 7.5?
Presumably "Special 1...5" or "Plain paper" was used during profiling. In this cases the profile is not compatible with PosterJet 7.1. The profile must be created again for PosterJet 7.1.
Why is my media profile for the Canon W8200PG created with PosterJet 7.0.x not available in PosterJet 7.1 or 7.5?
The media profile must be converted to a PosterJet 7.1 media profile. Please send us your self created profile via e-mail. We will convert it free of charge. You will find the media profile in the PosterJet server directory (by default "C:\Program Files\Eisfeld Datentechnik\PosterJet 7 Server Hosting\wwwroot\PJServer\data\Printer\8200pg" oder "C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\pjserver\data\printer\8200pg")
After a break the connection to the Canon imagePROGRAF is not available. What to do?
If the Canon imagePROGRAF does not receive data for a longer period, it may activate a energy saving sleep mode. Sometimes PosterJet is not able to quit this sleep mode of the printer. To wake up the printer press the Online-button on the printers front panel one time.
How to install media profiles on machines whithout an internet connection?
1. With PosterJet 7 you will still get all profiles for the genuine medias from Canon and HP free of charge. These profiles are available through our website and will be updated regulary. Please download the needed profiles using a machine that is connected to the internet and copy them to the machine PosterJet is installed on.
2. Start PosterJet 7 and go to the "Tools" menu in the menu bar. Select "Media Update". Click the radio button "Update from file" in the the lower part of the media update window. Now press the "Browse..." button. Select the zip-files you have received or downloaded and press "open". PosterJet will now unzip the files and copy them automatically into the right location. Restarting the application is not required, the media profiles are immediately available.
3. In some rare cases it can happen that some security settings interfere with this way of installing media profiles. In this case unzip the downloaded zip-archive manually and copy the included folder (the first 32 figures of the name of the included folder should be numbers and letters) into the folder of the printer you want to install the profiles for. This folder can be found here:
C:\Program Files\Eisfeld Datentechnik\PosterJet 7 Server Hosting\wwwroot\PJServer\data\printer
or here:
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\PJServer\data\printer
In this case restarting the PosterJet application is required. The new media profiles will now be available in the "Media Settings" tab under "Media".
How to choose the correct media profile in PosterJet?
For selecting the correct media profile please go to the "Media Settings" in the lower part of the main window of PosterJet. Please select the media you want to print on from the list of installed profiles in the filed "Media". After this submit your selection by pressing the button "Apply Changes".
How to choose the correct media profile in the printer? or: Where can I find the "MediaSettings.html"?
You can choose the right printer internal profile when loading the media into the printer. This process varies from printer to printer. After you have selected the right PosterJet profile you can see in the "Media Settings" tab in the field "Current PosterJet Settings" which printer internal profile was choosen when the PosterJet profile was created. Please select the same printer internal profile when loading media into the printer. In the field "Current Printer Settings" you can see which printer internal profile is choosen at the moment.
Why do I not get ink-levels or media information displayed?
This indicates a defect in the connection between computer and printer. Please mind that not all printers support this "bidirectional comunication".
HP Printers:
CP-Series: no feedback about ink-levels or media information.
All other HP large format printers support the bidirectional comunication if connected via TCP/IP.
Canon Printers:
BJW-9000: no feedback about ink-levels or media information.
All other Canon large format printers support the bidirectional comunication if connected via TCP/IP, USB or FireWire.
If you don´t get a connection to the printer, please check the following points step by step:
1. Check the connection between computer and printer. Are all cables pluged in? Is the power supply interrupted? Is the printer "online"? Are inks and media loaded?
2. If you the printer is connected via TCP/IP, go to "Start" > "run" and enter "cmd". In the new opened window enter the command "ping 192.168.0.120" (192.168.0.120 is an example for the IP-address of your printer). You will now get a response protocol which will tell you how good the connection is. If one or more packets are lost this is related to your network. Perhabs there is a firewall blocking this connection. Please contact your system administrator to solve this problem.
3. If the "ping"command was completed whithout any errors, please check if the IP-address you have selected in PosterJet is the same you have entered in the "ping"command.
Is there a possibility to set a drying time for a special media?
Yes, it is possible to set a drying time for the media profiles used with the Canon W6200, W6400, W7200, W7250, W8200, W8400, iPF500, iPF600, iPF700, iPF5000 and iPF9000 printers. Please have a look at the printer specific information in the help system of PosterJet.
